Need advice from Zyban users

19 years ago 0 4 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi, My name is Judy I joined this forum on 3/12/06 the same day I quit and this is my first post. I would like any advice from others that have used zyban to quit. It has worked wonderful so far with withdrawal symptoms and the cravings are there but minimal. My question is - when I finish taking the zyban, will the cravings come back stronger, or will they keep minimizing each day. My first quit was in 1993 after smoking for 18 years. I started again 3 years ago, (after staying quit for 10 years) and I have learned that once you quit, DO NOT EVER smoke one out of curiousity. Sorry for the long post. I would like to hear from other zyban users. Hi Shevie, thanks for your respond! I have been on zyban a month, and am considering stopping real soon, I think I have this quit under control thanks to this forum with all of its support and info. Your right, about if you think about cravings you will have them and if you don't think about them you won't. I think this addiction is 85% phycological. I guess I was just worried to go off of zyban before the instructions advised, the pamphlet says to stay on it a minimum of 7 - 12 weeks. I have been recomending this to alot of friends, I just can't believe how much easier it has been this time around comparing to my last quit when I went cold turkey.Boy did I learn my lesson, I will NEVER touch a cig again!! I've even lost weight instead of gaining! Sorry again for the long post. Hi, Judy. You've LOST weight? I'm jealous! :) All the nicotine's out of your system and has been for a while. This battle is now 100% psychological. It's all in your head. The best treatment you can give yourself now is rewards. Rewards don't have to cost much, or anything at all. They just have to make you happy. Rewards stimulate the parts of the brain that are missing the nicotine and help them recover quicker. I was taking a 125 mg dose of Wellbutrin twice a day so when I decided to stop taking it I just cut out one a day for a week, then stopped the other one. I like long posts (can't you tell?). Hi, 2ndtimer. Can't believe only Josie's responded. I quit using Wellbutrin (Zyban). I was on it for about a week, quit, and continued for about another 4 weeks. Then I dropped back to 1/2 dosage for a week before stopping it altogether. I never had any increase in the strenght or frequency of my craves, which I think were minimal anyway. On the other hand, some have reported increased craves. Go figure. I think it has a lot to do with your attitude. If you expect success, you'll get success. If you expect craves, you'll get craves.
