Tomorrow

"Tomorrow", my last word to you,

"Righto", you said to me,

I smiled and walked away that night,

Not knowing what would be.

Tomorrow never comes they say,

I wish it had been never,

Despite tomorrow coming,

Our tomorrow's been and gone,

With sadness some might say,

Our tomorrow will come once more,

With each passing hour

I move closer to you.

There is no sorrow,

Just tomorrow.

Having suffered with emphysema, Dad passed away in the early hours of 29th July 1997 in a hospital bed, alone. I wrote this poem later that day.

He was a smoker.

Duffis! I thought Feb 13 was you last post! Was so sad to think that you weren't going to add any more of your wise words to 'just a thought'! Pen does great at finding/writing pertinent quotes to keep the thread going

. I really love how you guys are able to express yourselves in a meaningful way - effortlessly in what seems like 'one word or less'!
